 十二經(jīng)脈和任，督二脈各自別出一絡(luò)，加上脾之大絡(luò)，共計(jì)十五條，稱為“十五絡(luò)”，分別以十五絡(luò)所發(fā)出的腧穴命名。

The Fifteen Collaterals include the twelve collaterals which branch out from the Twelve Regular Meridians, the collaterals of the Conception, the Governor and the Major Collateral of the Spleen. 十二經(jīng)的絡(luò)脈都由肘膝關(guān)節(jié)以下的本經(jīng)分出，走向其相表里的脈；任脈的絡(luò)脈從鳩尾分出，散布于腹部；督脈別絡(luò)從長(zhǎng)強(qiáng)分出，散布于頭部，左右別走足太陽(yáng)經(jīng)；脾之大絡(luò)從大包分出，散布于胸脅。全身絡(luò)脈中，十五絡(luò)較大。

The collaterals of the Twelve Meridi- ans branch out from the regular meridians below the elbow and knee, go toward their interiorly-exteriorly related meridians. The collateral of the Conception Vessel comes out from Jiuwei(CV 15)and spreads over the abdomen. The Col- lateral of the Governor Vessel arises from Changqiang(GV 1)and spreads over the top of the head. It goes along the Bladder Meridians on the right and left sides. The Major Collateral of the Spleen Meridian begins from Dabao(SP 21) and spreads through the chest and hypochondriac region. Among the collaterals of the whole body, the Fifteen Collaterals are larger.

The collaterals of the twelve meridians strengthen the relations of the Yin- Yang and the Exterior-interior meridians. The collaterals of the Conception Ves- sel communicate with the Qi of meridian in the abdominal region. The collaterals of the Governor Vessel communicate with the Qi of meridian in the back region. The Major Collateral of the Spleen Meridian communicates with the Qi of merid- ian in the lateral side of the chest. |
