The journal publishes original papers and short communications by internationally recognized scientists, covering all areas of plant breeding, including plant genetics, plant physiology, plant pathology, and plant growth and development. The journal focuses on crop plants and is therefore of interest to seed companies and the plant breeding industry as well as to researchers and educators. Most articles appear in English (more than 95%). Book reviews are published in every issue.A supplemental series Advances in Plant Breeding / Fortschritte der Pflanzenzüchtung is being published in irregular sequence.
