2016考研英語翻譯技巧：如何使用“增補(bǔ)法”
英漢兩種語言，由于表達(dá)方式不盡相同，翻譯時(shí)既可能要將詞類加以轉(zhuǎn)換，又可能要在詞量上加以增減。增補(bǔ)法就是在翻譯時(shí)按意義上和句法上的需要增加一些詞來更忠實(shí)通順地表達(dá)原文的思想內(nèi)容。這當(dāng)然不是無中生有地隨意增詞，而是增加原文中雖無其詞而有其意的一些詞。
(1)增詞
1)增加名詞
經(jīng)典例題: According to scientists，it takes nature500years to create an inch of topsoil. 參考譯文: 根據(jù)科學(xué)家們的看法，自然界要用500年的時(shí)間才能形成一英寸厚的表面土壤。
經(jīng)典例題: From agreement on this general goal，we have，unfortunately，in the past proceeded to disagreement on specific goals，and from there to total inaction.
參考譯文: 遺憾的是，過去我們在總的目標(biāo)方面意見是一致的，但涉及各個(gè)具體目標(biāo)時(shí)，意見就不一致了，因而也就根本不能采取什么行動。(1987年)
2)增加動詞
經(jīng)典例題: In the evening，after the banquets，the concerts and the table tennis exhibitions，he would work on the drafting of the final communiqué.
參考譯文: 晚上在參加宴會醫(yī).學(xué).全.在.線gydjdsj.org.cn，出席音樂會，觀看乒乓球表演之后，他還得草擬最后公告。
經(jīng)典例題: The cities utilize these funds for education，police and fire departments，public works and municipal buildings. 參考譯文: 市政府將這些資金用于興辦教育事業(yè)，加強(qiáng)治安消防，投資公共建筑和市政工程。
3)增加形容詞
經(jīng)典例題: With what enthusiasm the Chinese people are building socialism. 參考譯文: 中國人民正在以多么高的熱情建設(shè)社會主義啊!
經(jīng)典例題: The plane twisted under me，trailing flame and smoke. 參考譯文: 飛機(jī)在我下面旋轉(zhuǎn)下降，拖著濃煙烈焰掉了下去。
經(jīng)典例題: What a sight!參考譯文多美的景色啊!
4)增加副詞
經(jīng)典例題: The crowds melted away. 參考譯文: 人群漸漸散開了。
經(jīng)典例題: Theory is something，but practice is everything. 參考譯文: 理論固然重要，實(shí)踐尤其重要。
經(jīng)典例題: He was fascinated by the political processes—the wheeling and dealing of presidential politics，the manipulating，releasing and leaking of news，the public and private talks.
參考譯文: 一幕幕政治花招使他看入了迷:總統(tǒng)競選活動中的勾心斗角，爾虞我詐;對新聞消息的幕后操縱，公開發(fā)表和有意透露，以及公開和秘密的談話。
5)增加表示名詞復(fù)數(shù)的詞
經(jīng)典例題: When the plants died and decayed，they formed layers of organic materials. 參考譯文: 植物腐爛后，形成了一層層有機(jī)物。
經(jīng)典例題: Things in the universe are changing all the time. 參考譯文: 宇宙中萬物總是在不斷變化的。
經(jīng)典例題: There is enough coal to meet the world’s needs for centuries to come. 參考譯文: 有足夠的煤來滿足全世界未來幾個(gè)世紀(jì)的需要。
6)增加語氣詞
經(jīng)典例題: Don’t be childish. I’m only joking. 參考譯文: 別孩子氣了嘛，這只不過是開玩笑罷了。
經(jīng)典例題: As for me，I didn’t agree from the very beginning. 參考譯文: 我呢，從一開始就不贊成。
7)增加量詞
經(jīng)典例題: A red sun rose slowly from the calm sea. 參考譯文: 一輪紅日從風(fēng)平浪靜的海面冉冉升起。
8)增加概況詞
經(jīng)典例題: It leads the discussion to extremes at the outset; it invites you to think that animals should be treated either with the consideration humans extend to other humans，or with no consideration at all.
參考譯文: 這種說法從一開始就將討論引向兩個(gè)極端，使人們覺得要么就像關(guān)心自身一樣關(guān)心動物，要么就完全不顧它們的死活。(1997年真題)
經(jīng)典例題: The thesis summed up the new achievements made in electronic computers，artificial satellites and rockets. 參考譯文: 論文總結(jié)了電子計(jì)算機(jī)、人造衛(wèi)星和火箭三方面的新成就。
經(jīng)典例題: We have got great achievements militarily，politically and economically. 參考譯文: 我們在軍事、政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)等方面取得了巨大的成績。
(2)邏輯加詞
1)增加連接詞
經(jīng)典例題: Could you imagine what a fool I would make myself without that sum of money on me? 參考譯文 你能想象我要是身上沒帶那筆錢醫(yī)學(xué).全在.線gydjdsj.org.cn，該顯得多傻嗎?
2)增加承上啟下的詞
經(jīng)典例題: Yes，I like Chinese food. Lots of people do these days，sort of the fashion. 參考譯文: 不錯(cuò)，我喜歡中國菜。現(xiàn)在很多人喜歡中國菜，這種情況算是有點(diǎn)趕時(shí)髦吧!
(3)語法加詞 增加表示時(shí)態(tài)的詞
經(jīng)典例題: Humans have been dreaming of copies of themselves for thousands of years. 參考譯文: 千百年來，人類一直夢想制造出自己的復(fù)制品。
經(jīng)典例題: The high altitude plane was and still is a remarkable bird. 參考譯文: 高空飛行過去是而且現(xiàn)在仍還是一種了不起的飛行器。
